I've been working on this for about 2 weeks - on and off. It's Tiger JK, from Korean rap group 'Drunken Tiger.' I normally don't focus on rap stars, but I've been listening to a lot of Korean music lately - and the bios I read about this guy were simply incredible.
I really admire the fact that he was able to overcome almost complete paralysis of his body by exercising - especially after the doctors told him a 100% recovery was impossible. The doctors had originally prescribed steroids for his condition, but the side effects of the medication made him feel even worse. He swelled up over 100KG and was unrecognizable to his own mother. That's when he went against his doctor's orders and began exercising.
Within 2 years of his last album, he released a new solo album in 2007 that people view as the fruit of his suffering. He has lost DJ Shine as part of the band and has a newer, more soulful sound. Best of all, he refuses to accept sympathy as a means of getting by and instead, views his suffering as 'a gift' for his artistry and lyrics.
This is my hero - if he can overcome almost complete paralysis, I can defeat my back problems. So, I dedicate this to Tiger - a victory to both of us!
WOW, really amazing story that's something really admirable, I've known by some experiences that sometimes is better not to listen to doctors, but just some rare sometimes.. about the drawing..I liked the hair in this drawing, it has a pretty natural effect
Yeah the more I read up about Korean music, the more inspiration I discover. People will always complain about its political problems, but I daresay Korea seems to have a wealth of admirable people. I have a strong admiration for Rain (Bi) too - also from Korea. It's too bad there aren't that many modern American celebrities to look up to like that. As for the drawing, the hair was one of the hardest parts - I still struggle with drawing wavy hair. I would think it would be easier to do since you are less limited by the harder edges of straight hair - but to me it's far more complicated. Oh well.

Thanks - just have to keep practicing towards perfection. I don't think I'll ever be completely satisfied with my skills...it would imply that I have perfected something, and we all know that's an impossibility.

Yaah I love their stuff. I read that Shine wasn't involved with his latest album though. Still sounds good! I wouldn't know where to find pics of Shine - unfortunately it seems pretty difficult to find any media about them, ya know?
